Tips on how to find a vehicle

How do I find a good vehicle?
If you’re worried about the prospect of having to become a car mechanic fear not, as there
are still plenty of vehicles that you can pick up for a reasonable price thanks to lots of
second hand cars keeping the price down.

Where to look?
Try your local used car centre. Get them to sponsor you and they might be willing to donate
a used vehicle, or keep an eye out for something suitable for you. You can also try all the
car listings on websites like ebay and loot.com.

Top tips on buying a car:

  • Never buy a car in the dark.
  • Never buy a car in the rain.
  • Always take a friend with you if you're buying in cash.
  • Be suspicious if the car is parked hard up against anything.
  • Always take the car for a drive to make sure it’s safe and doesn’t make strange
    noises.
  • If possible take an impartial mechanic with you.
  • Always call second-hand car information specialist to run a check on the car.
  • Always check the door and panel gaps are equal.
  • Check the tires aren’t worn – including the spare.
  • Make sure the car doesn’t overheat.
  • Start the car up and let it tick over while you do your inspection and negotiating.
Don't bring this.
